Job Description
To take a focused and strategic approach to
the development of business opportunities
within the O&G sector across Africa to drive
margins and returns agreed within our strategy
and group procedures and policies.
Lead the execution of the Oil & Gas sector
strategy across all geographies within Africa.
Maximizing synergies through sales plans and
periodic business strategy updates.
Prioritise market opportunities through market
assessment and execution of such plans with
the responsible business unit. This will include
carrying out new market prioritisation, market
assessments and the formulation of execution
plans with associated business cases. The Head
of O&G Sector – Africa will then work with
responsible business units to help deliver a
successful market entry.
Formulate delivery plans with regional and
business units based on the analysis of the size
and growth rates of Oil & Gas sector markets,
utilizing knowledge of customer challenges and
potential the client solutions.
Lead the development of accounts and
relationships with Oil & Gas sector companies
operating in Africa.
Lead the analysis of competitors providing
similar services to the Oil & Gas sector,
including understanding their strategy,
organisation, cost base and pricing and then
embedding processes within business units
which will lead to sales activity and counter
strategies.
Deliver monthly and annual sales targets in
order to meet top line revenue growth across
the area but also their own specific sales
targets.
Work closely with Group Marketing to ensure
the correct messaging is being relayed to the
O&G sector
Lead, coach and mentor peers and business
development team members.
Champion the training, performance
management and career development of
employees
Ensure adherence to corporate risk
management and commercial procedures
Develop and protect the Client brand and
create and deliver effective internal and
external stakeholder relations and
communications

Requirements
The successful candidate must be able to
demonstrate the following:
15+ years in the Oil & Gas industry, preferably
in the upstream segment (Exploration &
Production); especially with an oil service
company and previous Africa experience
Extensive network of Oil & Gas customer
contacts in Africa, including International Oil
Companies, National Oil Companies and
Oilfield Service Companies
Prior experience in business development,
sales and/or operations preferred
Deep knowledge of power and temperature
control applications for the Oil & Gas sector
Proven track record of executing (completing)
strategy development, market entry, market
development, account management and
competitor analysis plans
Proven ability to operate in a matrix
environment where there is a need to influence
and persuade
Must be an excellent presenter and verbal/
written communicator
Results-oriented entrepreneurial spirit and
“can do” attitude.
Ability to take decisions autonomously and act
decisively, even when faced with ambiguity
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or
related field or equivalent experience
Highly numerate and literate with a proven
ability to formulate business cases, strategies
and plans
Excellent customer relationship and
management skills
Strong business leader, coach, and team player
Intellectually sharp
Able to understand and appreciate the
challenges of diverse geographies and cultures
High levels of integrity.
