Program Officer Needed
Disability Rights Advocacy Center (DRAC) is an Abuja-based Non-Governmental, Not-for-Profit Organization that works to protect the Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and promote their Social Inclusion in the Development Agenda. Since inception, DRAC has been working in the area of improving PWDs’ access to the physical environment and enhancing the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and girls with disabilities, economic empowerment and gender/human rights programming. The Center is also an information hub and resource center on disability and human rights issues in Nigeria.We are looking for qualified persons to fill this position
Duties:
- Develop program concepts aligned to the Center’s mission, strategic plan, priorities and policies
- Support the identification and analysis of potential international and institutional partners
- Identify programmatic approaches to respond to funding opportunities especially of international and institutional partners effectively
- Support the development of program proposals to funding partners
- Develop and implement income generating schemes for DRAC sustainability
- Support the comprehensive implementation of the Center’s program strategy in focus states
- Build and maintain relationships with likeminded organizations to form program partnerships
- Represent DRAC in national and international events, networks and alliances
- Follow national and international political and policy trends and analyze these for potential impact on programmatic approaches of DRAC, partner organizations, and our target groups
- Facilitate good links between international political work, fundraising and program work of DRAC
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Advanced degree / Professional expertise in relevant fields such as development, human rights, disability, social work, international relations, etc.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years demonstrable experience in the field of disability and development, human rights, and/or social development
- Experience of implementing policies, programs and broader development concepts in diverse multi-stakeholder environments
- In-depth knowledge of program planning and management tools and standard application formats
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong training capacities
- Good knowledge of relevant stakeholders in national, international development cooperation
- Dynamic and willing to use innovative approaches
- Fluency in spoken and written English; Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
- Ability to work independently and without constant supervision, combined with high level of team playing
